The I International Congress on Ceramic Studies. Tribute to Mercedes Vegas is a scientific meeting. This project was initiated, on one hand, with the aim to pay deserved professional recognition to one of the most important Spanish researchers in protohistoric and Roman pottery, internationally renown, Dr. Mercedes Vegas, and, on the other hand, contribute to the development of new lines of research on ceramic studies that are becoming popular in the scientific community.

The Organization of this Congress intends, for the first time, to hold a high-level Scientific Commission that includes the leading internationally recognized specialists in ceramics from Spain, UK, Germany, Italy, France and Portugal. This scientific diversity put together with young researchers will instigate debate and bring closer not only generational positions, but also methodological issues. This will create an excellent opportunity to exceptionally assemble the knowledge and experience accumulated during an entire life dedicated to archaeological research and the initiatives of young generations, thus finding scientific approval, from a constructive critical study of the great experts on certain topics set for discussion such as those arising in the thematic sessions.
